Laila had her First Communion in the Spring of 2010. This dress was made to celebrate her special day as well as celebrate the future First Communions of her 3 younger sisters. I made this vintage 50's dress with white cotton and shiny organza. There were 3 layers of organza under the cotton over skirt. I embroidered the celtic religious design on a panel of organza then added it to the over skirt. The look was finished off with a bolero jacket.
The veil was made with 2 layers of organza and embroidered with 3 crosses to symbolize the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I have been so blessed to be asked to make the First Communion dresses for a very dear family. I made this one for Sierra Grace in the spring of 2009.
This dress was made with bridal satin and a sparkly organza. The veil is made with the sparkly organza, and the cross on back is made out of the same trim used at the bottom of the skirt. This veil is attached to a ribbon-wrapped headband.
Two years later, her younger twin sisters had their First Communion! Kendall Joy wore that very same dress, and I was blessed enough to make a second dress for Addison Marie. In order to make their day as special as their sister's, I made each girl their own veils to match the dress they wore. Now each sister has a special keepsake from their First Communions.
